How to Spread Sanity on a Cracker - Mom-to-Mom Whines, Cheese, Rants, and Recipes by: Jackie Hennessey

How many times I laughed out loud:        Dozens

How many times I cried:                           Several (from laughing so hard)

How many Ah-Hah moments:                  Three

Jackie Hennessey is a native Texan who moved to East Greenwich, Rhode Island in high school. She is now a wife, mother, author, blogger and mompreneur who resides in picturesque Barrington, Rhode Island.

Whew!  I’m tired just listing her titles! I am also proud, by the way, to call her friend.

On her website, Jackie’s bio reads (very impressively) as follows...  “Jackie Hennessey is a mom who understands what other mothers go through. She has worked full-time, part-time, and been a stay-at-home mom too. She earned a BA in journalism from Texas A&M University where she received the “Best Aggie-Life writer” award from the university newspaper. She has nearly two decades of experience in journalism and public relations and is currently a blogger and pr consultant in Rhode Island. She pens the “Ask Mom” column at and had the honor of being a cast member of the 2013   Listen to Your Mother Providence show, a national event that gives Mother’s Day a microphone.”

Got it?  Actually, I think that’s just the tip of the iceberg of who Jackie really is.  There’s a lot more to this savvy lady.  She is profoundly deep, thoughtful, professional, ambitious and incredibly intelligent and it shows in how meticulous her book is.  Everything from the book cover design, the colors she chose, the illustrations inside, and every word of content, were all born of Jackie’s imagination...  and it’s incredible!

As authors we are kindred spirits who have had several conversations about what inspires us and our creative process.  These are conversations I’ve greatly enjoyed because Jackie “gets it”. Her gift book, How to Spread Sanity on a Cracker - Mom-to-Mom Whines, Cheese, Rants and Recipes is just that... the perfect gift for any experienced or expectant mother.  Why?  Because it gives you the low-down on what to expect when you have children. Yes, Jackie gives you the down and dirty about such hilarious topics as, “What to do when your child tells his preschool teacher you let him drink wine.”  And, “The horrors of shopping with kids”.  All of it mixed with some pretty delicious recipes!

Let me tell you something, I’m not a mother and I rarely cook, and I truly enjoyed Jackie’s drop-dead funny tales of motherhood, comingled with cheese dip recipes. Jackie is brutally honest and makes herself vulnerable in this book, which is the hallmark of any great writer. Chapter titles include, Baked Brie and One Cranky Mom, and Cheese Tacos and Truck-Driver Talkn’ Mamas and even, Chopped Broccoli and Vagina Tales”.

Now how can you not be a little curious?!!!  :-)

What makes Jackie’s book so nice is it’s an easy, quick, and fun read.  Only 90 pages, with many fabulous illustrations in between...  it’s perfect for moms on-the-go. Have a laugh and get some great dip recipe ideas by purchasing Jackie’s book on or at local bookstores.  Details are on Jackie’s website:
