Last week I tweeted my way through RI on a “boutique tour” – a drive around the state in search of the best locally owned places to shop this summer. Here are some of my faves!
37 Main Street, East Greenwich
Part boutique, part beauty salon, Luniac Glamour is a girl’s dream. Get primped and spray tanned, then shop for clothing, jewelry and accessories – all made by local designers. My favorite product is the handmade “turbie” designed by store co-owner Jaclyn Murphy. These customizable hair wraps are the perfect way to tame wild beach hair during the day or channel old Hollywood glamour for evening.
253 South Main Street, Providence
At prices that are lower than your typical boutique (nothing is over $150), Shoppe Pioneer is the place to visit for unique and fun summer finds, including this great dress for $84. If you like shopping for vintage finds, owner Natalie Morello just launched The Vault, a vintage cooperative offering monthly invite-only shopping events. Go to www.thevault.com to get on the invite list!
5193 Old Post Road, Charlestown
Located near the beach in Charlestown, Galapagos Boutique is unexpectedly chic. And while they cater mostly to an upscale crowd, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the earrings I had my eye on were just $12! The best place in southern RI to find an outfit for your summer event, hands down. My favorite item? The beautiful, colorful, summery tunic. They have a gorgeous selection that will suit every style - from beachy bohemian to glamorous goddess. I’ll be living in mine this summer ;)
330 Main Street, Wakefield
I am in love with this necklace that I found at Therapy Boutique! The Wakefield shop is located in the walking district of historic Main Street and boasts a unique selection of statement necklaces, clothing and accessories for the casual yet elegant shopper.
