Giovanni Feroce: Alex and Ani's CEO Talks About Giving

When Giovanni Feroce joined Alex and Ani in 2010, he brought with him over 20 years of experience from the retail and consumer products industries.   First connecting with designer Carolyn Rafaelian at a University of Rhode Island Alumni event, their business relationship flourished and led them to the impressive partnership they have today.  Under Feroce’s leadership, Alex and Ani has experienced extensive growth; recently expanding into Japan and Spain, they will continue in 2012 into Portugal, Israel, Canada, South Korea, Kuwait, Australia, Qatar, and many of the Caribbean Islands.

Beyond their growth and accomplishments, Alex and Ani is known as a company committed to giving; Bryant University and Rhode Island College each have recently received $1 million donations. One of their most notable initiatives is Charity By Design, the brainchild of Designer Carolyn Rafaelian.   The CBD division creates exclusive charms, artwork, meaning cards and signs for Alex and Ani’s partnering organizations, with partial proceeds of all sales going directly to the organizations.

“By reaching out and allowing consumers to enter the charitable world through their purchases, Alex and Ani believes a new generation of philanthropists will emerge.”

The list of non-profits working with Alex and Ani both nationally and locally is extensive:  Blessings in a Backpack, The American Heart Association, Autism Association, Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation, Hasbro Children’s Hospital, Women & Infants Hospital and Newport Festivals Foundation are just a few examples of organizations with which Alex and Ani has partnered.

“It’s been a pleasure and a privilege to work with Charity by Design on the Best Friends Bangle set. Alex and Ani understands heart disease awareness is fundamental for the health and wellbeing of all women. We would never be able to fulfill our mission without amazing partners such as Alex and Ani. We look forward to continuing and new projects with the company.”

- Victoria Smith, American Heart Association, Executive Director

In addition to their commitment to local and national charitable organizations, Alex and Ani is equally committed to both Rhode Island and the environment.   All of their products are produced in the Greater Providence area and supported by a large number of corporate partners.  Says Feroce, “Alex and Ani is committed to the state of Rhode Island.  Our expansion and reinvestment into the community will be ongoing for the entire existence of our company.  Alex and Ani’s long-term goal is to become an established top-tier global lifestyle brand that always calls Rhode Island it’s home”.

Giovanni Feroce’s extensive background in retail and consumer products prepared him well for the responsibility of leading his team toward their collective company philosophy, mission, strategy and annual revenue and growth goals.  It’s evident that leadership at Alex and Ani understands that a key to good business is a holistic approach, which involves both growing and giving.
