With the start of the spring and new things coming to life, it is a time for renewing, rethinking, and restarting. Spring could be the best time to start a fitness routine, mostly because of the weather, the small window of time we get before the hot summer, and the fact that let's face it, we are all more organized when the holidays are out of sight. There are some very simple ways to kick start your exercise routine as well as enjoy the spring season.
The weather in the spring is perfect for exercise. It is the best time of year to take advantage of the breezy, crisp air, and get outside and make your workout routine more interesting. You would be surprised what an amazing workout you can get at a park, the high school track, a hiking trail, or even in your backyard. Act like a kid again, and you will have your heart pumping in no time. Get creative and try something new, or set a new goal. This time of year is jam packed with Mud Runs, 5Ks, and walks.
Spring is also the best time of year to start a new habit. With the summer right around the corner, you have just the right amount of time to use the 30 day rule. In 30 days you can make anything a stable and solid habit. Make a plan, stick to it, and when the summer rolls around you will be able to indulge at those BBQs and not feel an ounce of guilt. Consistency is the most important key to success, not deprivation.
To help you get jumpstarted with your fall fitness routine, here are some tips:
1- Get outside, Get Outside, GET OUTSIDE.
2- Try something new. One of the best things to do with your fitness routine, is change it.
3- Go for a walk or jog on your lunch break or after work, and every 5 minutes, stop and do 20 squats.
4- Fine tune your nutrition. Clean up your eating and eat less processed food and more small meals, and you will notice differences in your performance as well as your energy levels (which we all need).
5- Incorporate exercise in your daily routine. Whether it is a walk during your lunch break, a quick run before work, or playing with your kids, make time for activity every day.
