After the past few days of high heat and humidity, the last thing you might think about is grilled fruit being a refreshing treat. However, I can tell you from personal experience, it is delightful and let's face it, you know you love using your grill during the summer.
The first fruit I ever grilled was a pineapple. Once I removed it from the grill, I drizzled some agave nectar on top however, I found that it was too sweet as the grilling brought out the natural sugars of the fruit so no additional sweetness was necessary.
Don't be intimidated about grilling fruit because it couldn’t be simpler: Prior to turning on the grill, spritz it with some nonstick spray, turn the grill on to a medium heat, place the fruit on top and remove once you have achieved the coveted grill marks.
Experiment with plums, bananas, nectarines, and pineapples. You will be impressed with the change in flavor and don't forget to have some ice cream on hand to place on the warm fruit.
