Hard to believe, but it’s time to start thinking about your winter wardrobe. As with most seasonal shifts, I recommend a few trendy pieces and a few classic pieces to keep your wardrobe looking fresh.
It’s actually a great time to buy cashmere because most department stores are already having sales on this coveted holiday gift. I just found one for myself at Macy’s for just $79 and I’ve seen them at Nordstrom for about the same price. Cashmere is a luxe fabric that will always “upgrade” your outfits, making them look more rich, classic, and expensive.
A fabulous winter coat is a great investment piece, especially here in the Northeast where several months out of the year we are covered by our outerwear. Consider a statement coat in a bright color but in classic silhouette, or go with something trendier (like a leather moto jacket) in a neutral color. Note: Neutral doesn’t mean just brown and black! Eggplant and forest green are excellent alternatives.
I loved the turban look this summer, and now I’m seeing lots in stores made in chunky knits. Turban head wraps are an on-trend way to keep your head warm this winter.
Another fun trend to try is the ear cuff, but proceed with caution! It is a young-looking, edgy accessory that is best worn in the evening. Keep other embellishments and accessories tame and let your ear cuff do the talking.
The majority of my clients tell me they want to look stylish, but feel comfortable in their clothes. Sweater dresses are my top pick to achieve this look. Worn with tights and boots, you can stay cozy and look fabulous well into April!
I couldn’t make a list of winter must haves without a classic pair of riding boots. If you don’t have a pair, get some! With a low heel and tall leather upper, they are both practical and beautiful.
Last but not least, an infinity scarf in a fun pattern adds some interest to jeans and a sweater or with outerwear - no complicated tying here, just double it and go!
