Summer Accessorizing

Many of my clients like the layered look and want help creating it in their day-to-day style.  I love the texture that luxurious scarves and layers provide, but it's starting to get HOT here in RI!

So, how do you get that multi-dimensional layered look without overheating?  Here are 3 of my top tips:

Jewelry

Mix metals with your jewelry to add color and texture to your outfit, giving it dimension and visual interest.

One idea:  Layer long thin necklaces in groups of 3 (odd numbers always work better than evens, in home and self decor!). Add a sleeveless top and cocktail shorts or a skirt, and you're ready for an evening out.

Scarves

If you have a summer-weight scarf, it can come in handy for summer nights near the ocean. I have one on hand for exactly that occasion - it's a pretty way to keep warm!

Sarongs

A sarong is my other favorite summer go-to accessory.  Find one in colors you love and you’ll have it for years!  Lightweight and easy to fit in a handbag, a sarong can be used as an impromptu picnic blanket or a shawl for chilly kids.  As well, a sarong can be worn as a dress, skirt or beach cover-up.  Get a sarong tie to make all these options super easy.  (Check out 7 ways to tie a sarong, here!)
